Harout and Mary are my primary cartoon characters and they are autobiographical where fact and fiction meet, often with exaggeration, not unlike the flights of my childhood imagination. Harout (me) is an artist living with Mary his (my) mother. His studio is in her home. To make a living he works different jobs, whatever he may find or invent. But since he is committed to his art, he cannot sustain one job for too long. Hence much of my cartoons involve capturing irritant moments that Harout encounters in daily life, endured by a dosage of satire. In my recent series Harout deals with, or parodies, notions of "contemporary art."
